Homeopathic for Shoulder joint pain or stiffness

Shoulder ailments are quite common. Frozen shoulder that is also called Peri-arthritis of the shoulder is an ill-understood disorder characterized by a uniform limitation of all shoulder-movements.

Frozen Shoulder, or `Adhesive Capsulitis` is basically an inflammation of the ligaments inside a person`s shoulder joint. The ligaments hold the bones of the shoulder in place. This inflammation restricts the movement of the shoulder joint. At that point of time the shoulder joint feels `frozen` or `locked up.`

Treatment
There are several treatments in homeopathy, which are applicable for all these symptoms. But the patient should suffer from the same symptoms as mentioned below.

Bryonia 30: This medicine is suitable for those patients who are suffering from severe pain, made worse by slightest motion, compelling the patient to keep still. Application of heat also worsens the pain. Absolute rest, gentle massage and lying on the affected shoulder help to relieve pain. In all these cases the person should take the medicine named Bryonia 30.

Chelidonium 30: Pain in the right shoulder spreading to right upper back. Pain is worse from movement of the shoulder and on touching but better from pressure or massage. All these symptoms confirm the use of the medicine Chelidonium 30.

Ferrum met: This medicine is used when the person suffers from pain in left shoulder, making it difficult for the victim to raise the arm. Pain gets worse from rest but is relieved by gently moving about the arm. All these symptoms clearly tell about the need of the medicine.

Rhus tox 30: In this case there is a feeling of stiffness, soreness and pain in the shoulder which is worse after rest or inactivity but gradually diminishes on moving the shoulder or applying dry heat. The Rhus tox 30 is useful when these types of symptoms are present.

Sanguinaria 30: This medicine named Sanguinaria 30 is useful for right-sided frozen shoulder accompanied by burning in palms and soles. Pain is worse from movement of the shoulder and better by rest and sleep.

Syphilinum 30: Frozen shoulder, with stiffness and pain that spreads into the arm-bone. Pain is especially troublesome during the night and that usually prevents sleep. It increases from heat-treatment but decreases on pouring cold water.

CHENNAI:The Madras high court has said registered practitioners in siddha, ayurveda, homeopathy and unani are eligible to practise surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, anaesthesiology, ENT, ophthalmology, etc.

Justice F M Ibrahim Kalifulla, passing orders on a contempt of court petition filed by the Tamil Nadu Siddha Medical Graduates Association, also said penal action against such practitioners who dabbled in allopathy should be "dropped forthwith."

The ruling runs contrary to a recent order delivered by another judge on a petition filed by two unani practitioners who sought similar relief. In February this year, Justice K K Sasidharan had held that practitioners of Indian system of medicines should not practise allopathy, and that there was nothing wrong if police take action against those who attempt to practice allopathy without valid qualification.

While passing orders on Thursday, Justice Kalifulla took note of a June 29 circular of the government, which, citing section 17(3)B of the Indian Medicine Central Council Act 1970, said institutionally qualified practitioners of siddha, ayurveda, unani and homeopathy are eligible to practise the respective system with modern scientific medicine "including surgery and obstetrics and gynaecology, anaesthesiology, ENT, etc. based on the training and teaching."

The government's latest stand on the issue smacks of ambiguity while dealing with alternative systems of medicine which it seeks to promote even while claiming to check illegal practitioners.

The recent crackdown had seen several traditional practioners being booked for prescribing allopathic drugs.

Recording the details, Justice Kalifulla said: “It is imperative that no proceedings can be initiated against any of those registered practitioners in siddha, ayurveda, homeopathy and unani, who are eligible to practise the respective system along with modern scientific medicine including surgery, gynaecology and obstetrics, anaesthesiology, ENT, ophthalmology, etc.

If any action had been taken against such medical practitioners, it is needless to state that such action should be dropped forthwith...”
Reacting to the latest order, state health secretary VK Subburaj said they were just making use of the provisions in the Act. “But this is allowed only for those who attended colleges and underwent training for surgeries.
